Partnerships, social dialogue
Being the largest national road transportation interest organisation, N.i.T. Hungary maintains fruitful intersectoral contacts with governmental agencies. The association has signed co-operation agreements with the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Transport and the National Transport Control Authority. The agreements include co-operation in the fields of preparation of road transportation enterprises for EU accession, drafting of legislation, training of entrepreneurs and drivers, and joint road controls.
N.i.T. Hungary is a member of the Hungarian Federation of Entrepreneurs and Employers, Hungarian Association of Craftsmen's Corporations, National Committee for Accident Prevention and the Association of Municipal and Regional Public Transport Service Providers. The association is one of the main promoters of co-operation among professional organisations interested in the Hungarian road transportation and forwarding sector. N.i.T. Hungary is active in promoting the interests of its member companies also at the international level. The association is member of the International Union of Public Transport (UITP) and the Global Road Safety Partnership (GRSP). Moreover, opportunities for membership in other international organizations are also explored. N.i.T. Hungary and the Royal Professional Organisation of Flemish Road Hauliers and Logistic Service Providers (SAV) has signed a co-operation agreement in order to ensure better information flow and exchange of experience between Hungarian and Flemish enterprises. Defending and representing the interests of the Hungarian road transportation enterprises constitutes the main task of N.i.T. Hungary. On behalf of its members, the association advocated their opinions on draft laws and bilateral governmental agreements affecting the road transportation sector. Lobbying activities include prompt responses in situations which have an impact on the sector, preparation of law amendments if needed, and regular meetings with government officials and MPs to discuss issues related to the sector. N.i.T. Hungary also represents its members' interests in bilateral joint committee meetings with partner countries. N.i.T. Hungary actively engages in the preparation of the system of social dialogue in the road transportation sector. The organisation co-operates with the Ministry of Employment and Labour and the Danish Federation of Employers within the EU Phare funded programme aiming to build up an effective sectoral social dialogue.
Training, road safety
Training is one of the main priorities of N.i.T. Hungary. Hundreds of entrepreneurs and truck drivers are trained and tested every year in the training courses and exams organised in co-operation with the National Transport Control Authority.N.i.T. Hungary plays a key role in the preparation of road transportation enterprises for the EU accession in Hungary. Training courses, member meetings, website, newsletter and course books are used to prepare Hungarian companies for the professional, legal and market challenges linked to the upcoming EU membership of Hungary. The National Transport Control Authority commissioned N.i.T. Hungary to prepare a course book for the training course for international road transportation entrepreneurs obligatory to acquire the international transportation licence. N.i.T. Hungary is committed to safe road transportation. As an active member of the National Committee for Accident Prevention and the Global Road Safety Partnership (GRSP), it initiates different programs to improve road safety. N.i.T. Hungary supports the innovative GRSP initiative to apply reflective safety stripes on trucks in Hungary. |
